homemade asian plum sauce
Hi followers in my romero family backyard i have a plum tree in the heart of the south san Francisco farm fresh as it gets right from your yard. So what do I do with them give it to neighborhood pals aka the fun loving neighbors) as friends. Instead i decide to whip up a batch of plum sauce you often seen a can of it in the asian stores but make your own a home very easy and sharing is caring. So this is chef terris recipe so i hope you enjoy xoxo chef ava marie
Plum sauce

8 cups plums pitted halved 3lbs
1 cup onion chopped
1 cup water
1 tsp ginger peeled and greated
1 clove garlic peeled and minced
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup rice vinegar
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp crushed red chili flakes
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Method
in a large heavy pot bring plums onions, water ginger and garlic to boil over medium heat then reduce heat to low and simmer occasionally until plums and onions are very tender. 30 minutes
press through a food mill and return to the same pot. Stir in sugar vinegar cumin, salt, cinnamon pepper flakes and nutmeg.
bring to a boil stirring reduce heat to low and simmer until mixture reaches consistently of applesauc 45 minutes after 45 minutes check and feel if it's thickened. If still watery keep cooking until you start to get the right consistency the longer you cook the better it turns out ok xoxo
