Kielbasa with Apples and onions (from chef michael symon)

hey fans, a few days ago I made my dad a quick supper a sautéed turkey kielbasa with apples and caramelized onions, so its so easy to make. I got the recipe from the chew's own Michael symon resident chef and he said you can do this in one pan and I agree. as long as you build flavors. ok. make sure you brown the meat then the veggies and fruits so super easy, super fast. I like mine with sriracha and tortillas but you can serve this family style. how easy is that. so lots of good food from the autistic chef to you. so happy good cooking

Kielbasa with apples and onions

Kielbasa with Apples & Onions

  • Five
  • 1 pound kielbasa (sliced on the bias into 1-inch thick pieces)
  • 2 small yellow onions (thinly sliced, about 2 cups)
  • 2 Granny Smith apples (quartered and sliced 1/8 inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup IPA- style beer

Pantry

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds (toasted and ground)
  • kosher salt
method

Put a large skillet over high heat. Add the olive oil followed by the kielbasa and cook until it begins to brown, about 1 minute. Flip the meat and scoot the pieces to one side of the pan. To the open space, add the onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions begin to soften and caramelize, about 1 minute.
  • Add the apples, coriander, and butter and cook until everything softens and begins to brown, about 2 minutes. Add the beer and cook until the sauce reduces and thickens to a glaze-like consistency, about 1 minute.
  • Remove from the heat, stir well to combine, and serve.
  • Helpful Tip: use stock or water in place of the beer for a kid-friendly dish! - and yes the remade dish for the blog is made with stock but you can use beer like Michael symon said but be creative and have fun! be safe
