Red Lentil Stew with sweet onions

hey foodies, what do you do when you have a cold or a cough, or your family member in my case my dad? try making red lentil stew, I added 2 cloves of garlic to help bring flavors and garlic is soo good for colds and it will make you feel so much better learned that from nutrition experts. and its true indeed.and also ginger as well. so try using garlic to cure common colds and lentil stew will do. so get cookin and my mom loves it!










Red lentil stew with sweet onions
2 tbl olive oil
1 onion chopped
2 garlic cloves minced
1 3/4 cup red lentils
2 T Ground cumin
2 1/2 c Tomato Basil Marinara sauce
1 T Honey
4 cups chicken stock
3 cups water
salt, black pepper to taste

method
heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. add onion cook for 5 minutes until soft add garlic at the last minute of timing. stir in lentils and cumin and cook for 1 minute. or until cumin is fragrant and lentils are coated with oil. stir in tomato basil sauce and honey. add the broth and water and seasonings. bring to a boil and cover reduce heat to a simmer for 20 minutes or until lentils are tender and falling apart.and if stew is too thick add a little water if needed, remove from heat and serve with a dollop of sour cream or ricotta
