Hoisin beef patty melts with soy caramlized onions and sweet chili mayo

hello fans of chef ava marie, I was making up new recipes for contests, so in the latest issue of food network magazine chef bobby flay is looking for the best burger recipes so I came up with a Asian patty melt just for bobby flay and In honor of my Asian friends who live in daly city and surrounding areas. so it's called hoisin patty melts with soy caramelized onions and sweet chili mayo. how cool is that. it makes your mouth want to water. so here is my recipe and my photos and this recipe is mine and is a original recipe so I hope you enjoy!













Hoisin beef PattyMelts  with soy caramelized onions and sweet chili mayo
for the burgers
1lb 80/20 ground chuck
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
a little salt and pepper to taste
4 slices of mozzarella cheese
8 slices sandwich bread, toasted
for the soy caramelized onions
1 onion, sliced
2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
2 table brown sugar
2 tablespoons oil
for the sweet chili mayo
1/2 cup mayo
2-3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
method
in a large skillet heat oil over medium heat add the onions and cook until transclcent then drizzle in 2 tablespoons soy sauce, I like to eyeball it and 2 tablespoons brown sugar and stir with a wooden spoon or with your pot holders as chefs do. let it cook for 15 minutes until really soft and caramelized and set aside in a bowl as you make the burgers.
in a bowl mix chuck with hoisin sauce and mix with your hands and form into 4 patties about the same size even. season both sides of burger patty with a very little salt because of the soy sauce content and a generous amount of pepper.
heat a grill pan over medium high heat place burgers on the grill or grillpan and grill 4 minutes per side until charred and golden brown on both sides. place a slice of cheese and let it melt( if slices are larger than the patty I suggest breaking the cheese and it melts evenly) then thansfer to a platter as you get ready to assemble the patty melts
in a small bowl mix mayo and sweet chili sauce together. set aside
to assemble- lay toasted bread on a plate smear with the sweet chili mayo top with the hoisin cheeseburger and top with caramelized onions on top. use a 2nd slice to do a second smear on the mayo and place the bread on top of the onions and oh la! you got a great Asian inspired patty melt so I hope this will beat you bobby flay
